Good News for Medicare Participants!
As of October 1, 2002 Medicare approved indications for PET (Position
Emission Tomography):
- Breast cancer
- Solitary pulmonary nodule
- Non-small cell lung cancer
- Colorectal cancer
- Melanoma

- Lymphoma
- Head and neck cancer
- Esophageal cancer
- Refactory seizures
- Myocardial viability
|
Effective July 1, 1998 female Medicare participants determined
by their physician or practitioner to be estrogen deficient (postmenopausal)
and at risk for osteoporosis are eligible for bone
densitometry benefits every 23 months.
Effective January 1, 1998, Medicare participants became eligible
for screening mammography benefits, including wavier of their deductible,
every 12th month from the date of their last examination. Medicare
continues to provide diagnostic mammography benefits to those patients
with identifiable symptoms at anytime.
